Sodexo Sponsors Hunger Summit
March 11, 2019
The 2019 UFWH Summit at the University of Southern Maine will bring over 500 students, faculty, and activists together for two days of action-oriented workshops and inspiring presentations from leaders and activists at the front lines of fighting hunger. This is the first time this Summit has been held in the northeastern U.S. and, given the density of colleges and universities in this region, plus its long history of food systems activism, this promises to be a large and exciting event.
Sodexo, who operates the Dining Services at the University of Southern Maine, is donating all of the meals served during the Summit in addition to providing a monetary gift to the UFWH organization. The contribution to UWFH aligns with Sodexo's Stop hunger Foundation, which works to fight hunger in the USA, with particular emphasis on child hunger. During the Summit, representatives from Sodexo will give presentations as well.
This year's UFWH Summit is being co-hosted by the Food Studies Program at the University of Southern Maine, the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, and the Maine Campus Compact.
